DURHAM SCHOOL SERVICES RECEIVES VISIT FROM ATTORNEY GENERAL ALAN WILSON

Charleston, SC – Durham School Services, a leading provider of student transportation, invited Attorney General Alan Wilson to visit and discuss the inner-workings and operations behind getting more than 25,000 Charleston County School District (CCSD) students safely to school every day. During the visit, Attorney General Wilson met with Durham’s Chief Operating Officer Westley Richters and the local team who provided insight into Durham’s safety procedures, industry-leading technology on the school buses, and the preventive maintenance program. “I have long admired the good work Durham does in South Carolina and across the nation. What I did not fully appreciate until my tour was the tremendous complexities associated with safe, successful student transportation, said Attorney General Wilson. “It is clear that Durham has a very strong focus safely transporting of students and developing a quality workforce so that those behind the wheel every day have the training and tools needed to accomplish their job.” The Durham team also shared their community involvement including participating and sponsoring events such as the CCSD golf scholarship tournament and the Gala, to Stuff the Bus events, and the Thanksgiving Basket Brigade where team members assembled baskets and delivered them throughout the District. “We appreciate the time the Attorney General spent with us, and we’re proud to showcase our team’s continuous efforts to getting our students to school safely, on time and ready to learn,” Richters said. “Our Charleston team’s dedication to not only safety of their students, but also the betterment of their community is to be commended.” CCSD Superintendent Gerrita Postlewait and several board members were also in attendance.
