DURHAM SCHOOL SERVICES RECEIVES GREEN FLEET CERTIFICATION

The National School Transportation Association (NSTA) recognized Durham School Services in Roseburg with the Green School Bus Fleet certification in the platinum category.

The certification program has been endorsed by the U.S. Enviornmental Protection Agency’s Clean School Bus USA program and is the only green fleet certification available in the school bus industry.  NSTA recognizes that school bus fleets are not acknowledged as often as they should be for the progress they’ve made and the steps they have taken steps to reduce emissions.

“This certification validates the work we are doing to put clean buses on the road,” said John Crain, general manager. “Through our idle reduction and fuel conservation programs we understand that even small adjustments to our operations can have a substantial positive impact on the environment.” He went on to say, “Rory Hoeffliger, my maintenance supervisor, has been focusing on idle time from the day he arrived 14 years ago. He and his team stay on top of it.”

The Roseburg facility has 3 maintenance team members, 71 buses and provides service for the 12 schools in the Roseburg school district.
