School Bus Industry Veteran Barry Stock Announces His Retirement

Warrenville, IL – Today, Barry Stock, Executive Vice President of Business Development for National Express Corporation, announced he will be retiring, effective July 30. National Express Corporation is a leading student transportation provider in North America and operates as Durham School Services in the United States and Stock Transportation in Canada.

Barry Stock has been a fixture in the school bus industry since 1988 when he started Stock School Transport. His company subsequently merged with two other school transportation companies in 1992 to form Stock Transportation. Together, the Stock family grew the business to 2,200 buses before Stock Transportation joined National Express in 2002.

“Barry has made tremendous contributions to the school bus industry, Stock Transportation and Durham School Services” said John A. Elliott, President and Chief Executive Officer of National Express Corporation. “He is a well-known and respected leader in the industry who has been instrumental in advancing our business to where it is today.”

“I have had the pleasure of knowing Barry for most of his years in the industry,” continued Elliott. “During that time, I can’t think of anyone who has been more focused on customer relations or has done more to bring about unity of purpose within the student transportation industry.”

“I would like to thank everyone at National Express Corporation,” said Barry Stock. “I am grateful for the colleagues and customers that I have been privileged to work alongside. I know Durham School Services and Stock Transportation have a strong leadership team in place and that these companies are well-positioned for the future.”

“I also would like to personally acknowledge our industry partners in both the National School Transportation Association and the American School Bus Council,” said Stock. “I am proud to have been associated with such great talent within these industry organizations as we have collectively worked to positively position the school transportation industry.”

“It has been an exhilarating and rewarding career. I am comfortable that the time is right to retire.” said Stock.

Barry Stock has been affiliated with many industry groups over his years in student transportation. He currently is the immediate past president of the National School Transportation Association, having served as president from 2008-09.
